Quiet Harbor and Mark 4:39 | Peace, Be Still
Quiet Harbor and Mark 4:39: Peace, Be Still
After a storm, the harbor becomes still enough to reflect the light again. The disciples once watched Jesus speak directly to wind and waves. His authority over the storm also reminds us that no turbulence within or around us is beyond His command.“Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.” — Mark 4:39 KJV
JESUS IS PRESENT IN THE STORM
The disciples were not alone in the boat, even when fear convinced them that danger had the final word. Jesus was present before the calm arrived.
Our emotions may rise like waves, but the presence of Christ remains steady. We can call upon Him honestly without pretending that the storm feels small.
Faith is not the absence of concern. It is trusting the One whose authority is greater than the wind.
RECEIVE THE GREAT CALM
Sometimes God changes circumstances quickly. At other times, He quiets the heart while the situation is still unfolding.
Both forms of peace are evidence of His care. The great calm begins when fear is no longer allowed to command every thought.
Let the still harbor remind you that Jesus can restore clarity after confusion and rest after distress.
A HARBOR MEDITATION
Imagine the water becoming still beneath clearing clouds. Breathe in and pray: Jesus, You are here.
Breathe out and release the storm you cannot control.
Breathe in and receive: Peace, be still.
Breathe out and declare: Christ rules over my fear.
